Quebec’s juniors make the difference at the St-Clement’s Horse Show in Saratoga Springs

Bianca Lafontaine and Frédérique Côte kick off the Show Jumping Season

Montreal and Quebec, May 14, 2007, For many North American young riders, the «St-Clement’s Saratoga Horse Show» launches the regular show season in show jumping. To get ready for the upcoming national show season starting this week with the St-Lazare Horse Show (Concours la Pépinière), many Quebec riders travelled to Saratoga to participate to the Saratoga Horse Show.

Two contenders of the Quebec Young rider team, sponsored by CAVALOR CANADA, set the pace at this beginning of season.

During the first day of competition, Bianca Lafontaine, 18 years old, from Hudson, on Cordoso and Frédérique Côte, 15 years old, from Quebec on Lamiretto were entered in the Level 7 Junior Jumper High.

Lafontaine and Côte, placed respectively 5th and 6th in the Speed Class.

On day two both girls were the only Quebec riders entered in the ‘Show Jumping Hall of Fame Junior Classic’ (Level 7). This special class attracts some of the most competitive junior riders of United States.

Lafontaine and Cordoso ranked 5th and Côte and Lamiretto were 6th. It was the first time that Frederique Côte participated in a Level 7 Classic.

Côte was also competing in the Level 5 Junior Jumper Low with her Belgium warm-blood mare Raïka. Their first class was a speed and the team got an honourable 5th place out of 35 entries. Their week-end ended with a 4th place in the Level 5 Junior Jumper Classic in which again, more than 30 riders were entered.

Trained by EC Level 3 coach, Francis Berger and sponsored by CAVALOR CANADA, Frédérique Côte and Bianca Lafontaine will take part to the qualifications for the Junior and Young rider team to participate in the North American Young Riders Championship that will be held in Virginia at the beginning of August.

‘’Bianca and Frédérique are already very competitive with their respective horseand they will continue their development with other very high calibre horses this summer: Bianca will ride Ramicor and Frédérique will continue her ascension with Raïka and Chérie,’’ concludes Francis Berger.
