Beth Underhill Named CAVALOR
'Athlete of the Month' for April
May 1, 2009 - Ottawa, Ontario – Jump Canada has named Beth Underhill the CAVALOR 'Athlete of the Month' for April.
Underhill of Schomberg, ON, had a string of victories during the two weeks of competition at the Ocala Jumping Classic held at the Florida Horse Park in Ocala, FL, from April 2–12, 2009.
During the first week of competition, Underhill won the $50,000 Ocala International Grand Prix, presented by Brook Ledge Inc., riding Cantero Z, a 10-year-old grey Zangersheide gelding owned by Iron Horse Farm. She also took third place with Top Gun, a nine-year-old grey Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Iron Horse Farm. The same week, Underhill won the $10,000 Open Welcome with Magdaline and placed first and second in the $5,000 1.40m class with Cantero Z and Top Gun respectively.
During week two, Underhill swept the $10,000 Open Welcome, winning with Cantero Z, placing second on Top Gun, and taking third with Tjengo.
“The most gratifying part of these victories is just learning more about these horses,” said Underhill. “Cantero Z did not believe in himself, and it took time to get his confidence up to the level where it should be. Now he is really showing what he can do. I am thrilled to be part of the Iron Horse team.
