Jonathan Asselin Named CAVALOR 'Athlete of the Month' for April
May 8, 2008 — Jump Canada has named Jonathan Asselin the CAVALOR 'Athlete of the Month' for April.
Asselin of Calgary, AB, won the $35,000 Kubota Cup Grand Prix held April 5 at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair in Brandon, MB. From the 23-horse starting field, Asselin was one of four riders to advance to the jump-off in the first event of the 2008 Kubota Cup Canadian Show Jumping Series. He was again clear in the jump-off, turning in an unbeatable time of 35.486 seconds, which was four seconds faster than his closest competition. Asselin was riding Lolita, a 10-year-old Oldenburg mare owned by Attache Stables.
“It is a real honour to be named the CAVALOR 'Athlete of the Month' for April, I am very thankful,” said Asselin, who placed 15th individually at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. “My mare felt fantastic at Brandon. She had a good rest last year and has come back jumping super.”
As the CAVALOR 'Athlete of the Month' for April, Asselin receives a gift certificate from the title sponsor CAVALOR Canada.
